BENGALURU: The Karnataka high court on Tuesday formally ordered notice to the state government, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited( BMRCL) the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and Msrs Nagarjuna Construction Company Limited in response to the Suo Motu public interest litigation( PIL) linked to the recent Metro pillar collapse incident.Following a request, a division bench headed by justice Alok Aradhe also granted two weeks time to submit their responses.On January 13, the court had issued a direction for registration of a Suo Motu PIL, after taking cognizance of various media reports, including the Times of India report published on January 11 with regards to the unfortunate incident relating to the death of a woman and her toddler son when a structure at Namma Metro construction site collapsed as well as the report pertaining to the appearance of a sinkhole at Vellara junction.A division bench comprising chief justice Prasanna B Varale and justice Ashok S Kinagi directed the registrar general to see the concerned authorities/department of state government, the BMRCL, BBMP concerned contractor are made respondents in the proceeding to be initiated and also other responsible and relevant authority as party respondents to the proceedings.
